A condition in which excess fat builds up in the liver, also known as hepatic steatosis, is called fatty liver disease. Millions of people worldwide suffer from this common condition. Fatigued liver disease can be divided into two categories: non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and fatty liver disease caused by alcohol. The latter is the type that occurs more frequently and is typically brought on by obesity, insulin resistance, elevated blood sugar, and elevated blood fat levels.
In its early stages, fatty liver disease may not present with any symptoms. However, the following signs and symptoms of fatty liver disease may emerge as the disease progresses:
1.Fatigue: Due to the liver's inability to function properly, patients with fatty liver disease may experience constant fatigue and weakness.
2.Uncomfort in the abdomen: The upper right portion of the abdomen may cause discomfort or pain. This could be the result of the enlarged liver pressing against the surrounding organs.
3.Loss of appetite: Patients of liver disease may experience a loss of appetite and feeling full after eating only a small amount of food.
4.Jaundice: In rare cases, patients with fatty liver disease may develop jaundice, which is characterized by yellowing of the skin and eyes. This occurs when the liver is unable to process bilirubin properly.
5.Swollen liver: As the liver accumulates fatter, it may become enlarged, leading to swelling in the abdomen. This may be visible as a bulge in the upper right area of the abdomen.
6.Urine colour: Fatty liver disease may be indicated by a darker urine than usual. This is because there is too much bilirubin in the blood.
7.Itching: The accumulation of toxins in the blood can cause skin rashes and itchiness in patients of liver disease.
See a doctor right away if you experience any of the aforementioned symptoms. Fatigued liver disease can result in serious complications like liver failure, cirrhosis, and cancer.
In addition to the aforementioned symptoms of fatty liver disease, you may also be more likely to develop fatty liver disease if you have certain risk factors. These are some:
1.Obesity: If you're overweight or obese, you're more likely to get fatty liver disease.
2.Diabetes mellitus: Fatty liver disease is more common in diabetics with type 2 diabetes.
3.Pressure in the blood: Having high blood pressure can make you more likely to get fatty liver disease.
4.Blood fat levels that are high: Fats in the blood, like cholesterol and triglycerides, can make you more likely to have fatty liver disease.
5.Addiction to alcohol: Alcoholic fatty liver disease can result from excessive drinking.
In conclusion, fatty liver disease is a prevalent condition that can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Symptoms of fatty liver disease include fatigue, abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, jaundice, swollen liver, dark urine, itching, and other symptoms that may not be apparent at first. If any of these symptoms occur, it is essential to seek medical attention immediately. The risk of developing fatty liver disease can also be increased by having high blood pressure, being overweight, having type 2 diabetes, having high blood fat levels, and drinking a lot of alcohol.
